Total Life Fitness, Inc is a 501c3 Non Profit Organization
dedicated to
it's community and we offer multiple programs specifically for the
community- usually offered free of charge
to the communities we serve. Here is a
listing of current and future community programs:
Chronic Pain and Arthritis / Fibromyalgia Support Groups We work closely with the American Chronic Pain Association and the National Fibromyalgia Association to create a place where people can meet and discuss the ongoing trials and tribulations of living with pain. These support groups will allow people to share the latest on research, receive guidance and support, and information about treatment options. Self Defense Classes Based on the unique, simple, and direct principles of Kenpo Karate and other effective systems of self defense, our 8 week self defense program focuses on simplicity and survivability. With an easy to learn set of tools, and a "reality based" training scenarios, participants will learn effective ways to deal with the scariest encounters we might possible face- including how to avoid them. Kenpo Karate at Olga Reed Elementary in Los Alamos Our Kenpo Karate Program at Olga Reed Elementary School in Los Alamos is provided to the students free of charge and survives on donations from the parent and community. The Juvenile Obesity Project- Projected to begin at the start of school 2010 Our Juvenile Obesity program is an outgrowth of existing, more generalized programs designed to increase the health and well being of the participants. We target 2 classes of children between the ages of 10 and 17: Those who are currently overweight and those who wish to form good habits prior to becoming overweight. Thus our goal is twofold for this program- rehabilitative and preventative. And we’ll accomplish this goal with educational groups, structured classes, and parent involvement. Zero Tolerance Bully Project- projected to begin winter of 2010 Bullies exist in every aspect of our life, and it is in our childhood where we learn how to deal with them. Some of us learn how to cope effectively, most of us don't. It is in our childhood and adolescent years where our abilities and the habits we create to deal with bullies are both established and cemented in to practice. We work within the schools, doing educational assemblies, to teach effective skills for dealing with bullies without resorting to violence. |
